Science Questions
Introduction to science questions:
Studying science involves the use of cognitive skills and creative ability. Everybody has the curiosity and desire to explore the environment around them. Science is very close to our day today life. There are so many questions related to science. Some of them are as follows:

Set 1 Questions of Science
Q:1 Why the liquid in a thermos flask be able to maintain its temperature and keeping its cold or hot for a long time?
Ans: The air presence, between the double glass wall of a thermos flask, a poor conductor of heat, keeps the temperature of the liquid inside consistent. Hence the liquid remain hot or cold inside a flask for a long time.
Q:2 Why a ball bounce when hit against a surface?
Ans: When a ball hit the surface, there is a temporary deformity in its shape. However, Due to properties of elasticity, the ball tries to acquire its original shape and in this process it puts pressure on the ground and as a result bounces up. This happens according to Newton's Third Law of Motion.
Q:3 Adding salt to water while cooking dal is said to be advantageous, why?
Ans: By adding salt into the water, the boiling point of the mixture gets raised which helps in cooking the dal sooner.
Q:4 When seen by the naked eyes, why the colour of sky looks blue?
Ans: We see the colour of sky blue because, the wave length of violet and blue light is shorter as compared to red light and hence they scatter more in the atmosphere. While the red light waves travels mostly straight through the atmosphere the blue and violet light get scattered by the presence of particles in the air giving a feel of blue color all around.
Q: 5 How the weight of a man will vary on moon as compared to his original weight on earth? Will it be more or less?
Ans: The weight of a man is the function of gravity and is directly proportional to it. The gravitational force on moon is around one-sixth of the value on earth hence, the weight of the person will obviously be one sixth on moon than that on earth.

Set 2 Questions of Science
Q:6 What makes the solid piece of iron to float on mercury while it sinks in water?
Ans: The floating characteristics of a metal in a liquid is governed by the relative density values. Here the density of mercury is higher than that of iron hence the piece of iron floats in it. While the density of water is less than the iron hence the piece of iron sinks in it.
Q:7 Why a person feels a backward push when fires a gun?
Ans: When the gun is fired, the bullet comes out of the nozzle of the gun’s barrel with very high momentum in the forward direction. This ejection of the bullet imparts an equal momentum to the gun in the backward direction according to Newton's Third Law of Motion. That is why the person feels the backward push.
Q:8 When Ice is wrapped in a blanket or saw dust, it does not melt quickly. Why?
Ans: Wood and wool both are bad conductors of heat. When ice is wrapped in a blanket or saw dust, they doesn't allow the heat to dissipate easily due to bad conductor and also it doesn't allow the external sunlight to reach them easily. Therefore the ice doesn't melt quickly.
Q:9 Why does ice sink in alcohol but float on water?
Ans: Because ice is heavier than alcohol and hence it sinks in it, but lighter than water so it floats on it.
Q:10 Why is the boiling point of sea water more than that of fresh and pure water?
Ans: Salt and other impurities dissolved in sea water causes an elevation in its boiling point, hence it has a higher boiling point than the fresh or pure water.
