classification of wastes
Introduction of Wastes:
General waste definition :
“A General Waste is produced within the domain of local authorities and comprises rubble, garden, domestic, commercial and non-hazardous industrial waste. It may contain small quantities of hazardous substances dispersed within it, e.g. batteries, insecticide and other pesticide residues in containers and medical waste discarded on domestic and commercial premises”
Hazardous waste definition :
“A Hazardous Waste is a waste which because of its quantity, chemical or infectious characteristics may cause ill health, increased mortality, or adversely affect the environment, or pose an immediate threat, stored, transported, disposed of or otherwise managed and exhibits the characteristics of corrosively, toxicity, flammability, volatility, explosively or radioactivity" I like to share this list of chemical formulas with you all through my article.
Types of waste:
Type O
A mixture of highly combustible waste, primarily paper, cardboard, wood, boxes and combustible floor sweepings; mixtures may contain up to 10% by volume of plastic bags, coated paper, laminated paper, treated corrugated cardboard, oily rags and plastic rubber scraps. Commercial and industrial sources.
Type 1 - A mixture of combustible waste such as paper, cardboard, wood scrap, foliage, floor Sweepings and up to 20% cafeteria waste. Commercial and industrial sources.
Type 2 - Rubbish and garbage. Residential sources.
Type 3 - Animal and vegetation waste from restaurants, cafeterias, hotels, etc. Institutional, club and commercial sources.
Type 4 - Human being and animal remains consisting of carcasses, organs and solid tissue wastes from Farms, laboratories and animal pounds.
Type 5 - Medical waste including sharps, pathological, surgical and associated infectious waste Materials.
Type 6 - Department store waste
Type 7 - School waste with lunch programs.
Type 8 - Supermarket waste.
Type9 - Other wastes not described here or which have variable or unknown BTU-Content that must be verified.
